Introduction

Benjamin graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in Law. He is a Legal Executive in Singapore and a Pupil Barrister (Gray’s Inn) in England & Wales. Benjamin is highly adept at spotting issues and helping clients achieve their goals effectively. He also has a natural flair in family law and has accrued plenty of experiences. He is anticipating his Call to the Singapore Bar around March 2023.

 

Prior to joining Gabriel Law Corporation, Benjamin was a candidate for the Senior Officers’ Law Clerk Program at the Presiding Judge’s Office in the State Courts of Singapore. He was also exposed to a range of highly contentious matters from his experience at the various leading regional and international law firms.

  • Authored The Publication of Prosecutorial Guidelines and Duties; A Necessary ‘Evil’ of the Criminal Justice System in Singapore published in Singapore Comparative Law Review (2020). In that article, he compared the criminal justice system in the UK and Singapore and argued that there is a need to regulate the Public Prosecutor’s power to prosecute.

  • Is involved in high profile criminal matters, ranging from Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences (LASCO) cases, money laundering and misappropriation of property.
  • ​Was also involved in the high profile Hyflux $2.8b debt restructuring.
  • Had clerked for Senior District Judge Bala Reddy for a three-month internship. During that time, he had written evidence summaries, drawn up and researched antecedents of the accused, and helped prepare judgments for PP v Lim Boon Hong, PP v Joshua Tan Jun Liang, and PP v Vengadeswaran.
